(March 22, 1935 – March 19, 2024)
Line of Events
Two criminal twins, one of whom is trying to reform, embark on a dangerous journey. Faced with legal troubles, shootings, and family drama, they must reconcile their differences before their mission leads to self-destruction. The last film appearance of actor M. Emmet Walsh (Judge Farful). The brothers had the promise and the opportunity to do so. Really solid cast.
Starts off strong
The plot was quite interesting. I don’t know if I should compare these movies to generational classics or to some of the other trash that has hit streaming in recent years. I feel like Hollywood has never recovered from the writer’s strike, and it shows. This movie is watchable because of the low bar of available content. Are comedies the answer to society’s low IQ numbness these days? If you like understated humor like a grown man shaking off an orangutan, you’ll like this movie.
They played their part
If you prefer witty, sophisticated humor, you’ll often roll your eyes. I don’t blame the actors. Dinklage is a real talent. Brolin shows detachment, playing a believable character who isn’t a badass with superpowers. Marisa Tomei is great in everything. I wonder why that hasn’t been discredited.
The situation is unrealistic
Fraser also rocked the shadowy guardian. I’ve never been a fan of Glenn Close, but she played before my time. Brothers doesn’t grab you. It’s slow and lacks the cinematic charm that makes you care about the outcome. You can’t invest in the characters. I’m sure the actors desperately needed a paycheck, but they’re all better than that.

It had its moments and I made it to the end, which is saying something. “What We Do in the Shadows” is its final season; it’s one of the biggest TV and streaming releases of the month.
